SpaceX joins the Nasdaq-100 just weeks after its IPO

SpaceX was added to the Nasdaq-100 index effective July 7, only 15 trading days after its record-setting June 12 market debut, under Nasdaq's new fast-track rule for mega-listings. The inclusion is expected to draw billions of dollars in passive buying from the more than $800 billion of funds tracking the index, though SpaceX's initial weighting is small - an estimated 0.5% to 0.7% - because less than 5% of its shares trade freely. It is one of the first launch companies to enter the benchmark, underscoring investor appetite for space stocks.
