US lifts export controls; Anthropic restores Fable 5 and Mythos 5
Anthropic said late on June 30 that the U.S. Department of Commerce had removed the export controls it imposed on June 12 on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, letting the company restore global access to Fable 5 from July 1 (with Mythos 5 returning to approved U.S. organizations). The June freeze followed a cybersecurity finding after Amazon researchers demonstrated a jailbreak that could prompt Fable 5 to identify software vulnerabilities. Anthropic said it would deepen government collaboration - prereleasing frontier models for federal review - and had built a new safety classifier and an industry jailbreak framework alongside Amazon, Microsoft and Google.
