Lucid cuts 18% of staff, eliminates second production shift

Lucid Group is laying off about 18% of its workforce - roughly 1,500 jobs - in its second mass cut of 2026, with new CEO Silvio Napoli framing the move as a bid to 'simplify the company' and sharpen execution. The reductions are concentrated on the factory floor at the Casa Grande, Arizona plant, where Lucid is eliminating its second production shift in response to weaker-than-expected demand. The automaker expects roughly $158 million in annual savings against about $32 million in severance, with the restructuring set to complete by the third quarter of 2026.
